PM National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP)

What is it

Free dialysis for kidney-failure patients at district government hospitals, so ongoing treatment does not keep pushing your family into debt.

Am I eligible

Under the National Health Mission, PMNDP provides dialysis FREE OF COST to Below Poverty Line (BPL) patients at district government hospitals. If you are not BPL you may still get dialysis here at a subsidised rate, and several states run their own programmes that provide free dialysis more widely — so it is worth asking at your district hospital and checking your state's health scheme even if you are above the poverty line. Registration is done using an ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) ID.

What you get

Free haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis sessions for eligible BPL patients at empanelled district hospitals, with portability across centres under the 'One Nation, One Dialysis' system. What is free versus subsidised for non-BPL patients depends on the state — confirm at the hospital.

How to apply

1. Go to the dialysis unit at your nearest district government hospital with the patient's diagnosis or referral.
2. Ask to be registered under the PM National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) — you will need an ABHA ID, which staff can help create.
3. If you are BPL, carry your ration card / BPL proof so dialysis is provided free of cost.
4. If you are not BPL, ask what the subsidised rate is and whether your state's own scheme covers free dialysis for you.
