What is it
Free treatment in hospital for serious illness, so a health emergency does not push your family into debt.
Am I eligible
Eligible poor and vulnerable families are identified from the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC 2011) deprivation and occupation categories. In addition, every senior citizen aged 70 and above can get cover regardless of income. You can check your name for free on the official portal or at any empanelled hospital — you never have to pay anyone to find out.
What you get
Cashless hospital treatment worth up to ₹5 lakh per family per year at empanelled government and private hospitals, covering a wide range of serious illnesses and surgeries.
Documents needed
Tick off what you have. Use “Download checklist” to print a clean list to carry.
How to apply
- Check if your family is eligible on the official PM-JAY portal (pmjay.gov.in) or call the helpline 14555.
- Make your free Ayushman card at a Common Service Centre or the Ayushman desk of an empanelled hospital (seniors 70+ can make the senior-citizen card).
- Carry your card and Aadhaar when you need treatment.
- At the hospital, ask for the Ayushman Mitra (helper) to guide you through cashless admission.
